FIXTURE LIST A DISGRACE
The United fixture list this season has been a real shocker. If the SPL had tried to screw United by deliberately making the fixture list bad for the economics of the club and for the supporters they could have not made a better job of it than the fixture planners have done.During the season prior to the split we have 16 home league games.
Of these 3 are mid week , 4 are on Sundays and 9 are on Saturdays at 3 pm
Of the Saturday games we had 2 home games over the festive season which is bad for travelling supporters and for hospitality.
unbelievably after the Hibs match on 16th January we do not have another Saturday home league game until the 27th of February. We have 2 home mid week games during this period ( again bad for hospitality) and , of course , Sod's law takes over and once again we get an away draw in the cup.
Talk about supporters loosing interest , no wonder.
This has also had an impact on branch finances as our bus average has dropped from 42 last season to 36 this season.
In fact, for the last 8 games last season our bus average was 45.
From this it is clear to see the impact on branch finances and if our branch is representatrive of the wider support then the club's finances will also take a hit.
It is hard to believe that the SPL actually contract out the fixture list and pay a fair bit of money for the shambles created.
